Plant-Based Health Coaching
Why I decided to be a Plant-Based Health Coach:
For many years I was tired. I ate the Standard American Diet. I lived the Standard American Life - high stress, no sleep. I powered through my twenties and early thirties, but I started having debilitating health issues while trying to raise three daughters, working and going to school. Over the months I got sicker and sicker until I finally couldn’t get out of bed. Everything came to a sudden stop. I could barely move. Breathing was a chore. I had to have help walking and sometimes I couldn’t even lift my arms to cuddle my girls or lift a fork. For months I would feel “fine” just enough to do the bare minimums. Then with one added stress, one day of too much activity, (or just because) I would be down again.
I became tired of being sent to specialists and being pushed medications, that were more of a band aid than a cure. The bills piled up and the stress was crushing me. I became severely depressed. I eventually found a doctor who stepped outside the mainstream and helped a few of my issues. It was wonderful!
But I realized all the answers didn’t have to come from doctors. I was responsible for my own life. I was in charge of it! I had to have enough courage to change my outlook on health. I became a health coach to learn more about what I could do to feel better. I learned some valuable information but even though I tried everything they said to do, and I did feel better for short amounts of time, I still wasn’t fully able to live the life I wanted. I found out about Dr. Brooke Goldner and did her 6-week Rapid Recovery Program and that is what started me on this wonderful plant-based journey! I learned what nutrition really was. I learned how to nourish my body and my life. After the program, even though I had felt amazing and I was definitely on the way to true health, I started eating a little more processed foods and pretty soon was back into the normal SAD way of eating. I started getting sick again. I had the proof that plants really changed everything! So, I learned all I could about plant-based nutrition and read the studies and followed the doctors that are at the forefront of plant-based research. It took time and patience and a lot of setbacks, but I got my life back! I learned from great doctors like T. Colin Campbell, Neal Barnard, Caldwell Esselstyn, and Brooke Goldner.
So, whether you want to tweak a few things or jump into the deep end of all things plant based, I am here for you! To work with me you must be willing to prioritize yourself - to give your body and your life the nourishment you deserve.
